Last Saturday the Traveling Lotus Kids and Teens performed at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. This was the first time some of our young dancers performed outdoors in a park. Fort Greene is a beautiful park on a hill with wide areas of grass and majestic trees. It played important role in the city’s history and is originally a site of forts built for the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
On the top of the hill stands a tall monument with a broad and clean marble base where the parents sat to watch the two-part performance, choreographed by Artistic Director Jerzey. This choreography incorporated some old routines with the new ones to create different formations and transitions. Two former Traveling Team girls from Long Island gave the piece some special sassy flavor. Ending the show was a piece formerly danced by professional dancers. It was indeed a surprise and delight to see the fast growth of these young dancers’ skills!
